About Totally Dave
The Person Behind the Website
Totally Dave is a personal creative archive built to preserve and share the things I have created, collected, photographed, cooked, and occasionally organized far beyond what was strictly necessary.
I have always moved between different kinds of projects. Over the years, that has included writing fiction, producing television shows and films, working in college radio, collecting music, creating album projects, taking photographs, developing recipes, making jams and barbecue, and building systems to keep track of all of it.
This website brings those different parts of my life together in one place. It is not intended to be a monument or an advertisement. It is simply a home for the work and the stories behind it.
Creativity, Collections, and Curiosity
Some of the work preserved here began decades ago. The television shows and films were created while I was a student at East Stroudsburg University and Tarrant County College. Music has remained a constant through college radio, decades of collecting, and the creation of the Totally Dave Album series.
Writing became another major part of my creative life, eventually producing a growing collection of novels, characters, and interconnected stories. Photography provided a way to preserve individual moments, while cooking became its own form of experimentation—one recipe, jar of jam, or carefully managed smoker at a time.
These interests may appear unrelated, but they all begin in the same place: curiosity, the desire to make something, and the satisfaction of turning an idea into a finished project.
How Totally Dave Was Built
The website itself grew from a Microsoft Access database originally created to organize recipes. Once the system worked, the obvious question followed: what else could it publish?
Recipes became music, albums, novels, television and film, and photography. The database evolved into the Totally Dave Publisher—a custom system that creates the pages, navigation, statistics, galleries, and other parts of the website.
I have always believed that if you do something more than once, a system can be created. Totally Dave is what happened when I applied that idea to an entire creative life.
It was all a dream. Then I built a database for it.
