Dreamer's Ball

Synopsis

David proudly considers himself a “good old-fashioned lover boy,” certain that his two-year relationship with Tina is as strong as ever. His confidence collapses when Tina announces that she is seeing another man and leaves him humiliated in front of his friends. Heartbroken and distracted, David falls asleep during class.

He awakens when a mysterious young woman named Porsha interrupts his lesson and pulls him into what she insists is a dream. David refuses to believe her until she grants him a wish and produces a Coke from thin air. Porsha explains that entering the dreams of brokenhearted young men and cheering them up is her job—but she has come to do more than simply make David feel better.

As they spend time together, Porsha dismantles David’s belief that he was the perfect boyfriend. Calling Tina every night, holding her hand, writing poems, and repeatedly saying “I love you” meant little if he never truly opened himself to her. Through humor, blunt advice, and a rather detailed relationship rule book, Porsha teaches him that intimacy is built through trust, shared thoughts, emotional honesty, and the small personal details that allow two people to genuinely know one another.

By the time the dream ends, David understands that love is not a routine or a collection of expected romantic gestures. It is the willingness to express what is inside you and share your authentic self with another person. Porsha disappears as the classroom bell approaches, leaving David awake, transformed, and excitedly trying to convince his skeptical friends that the extraordinary girl from his dream was real.

At the very end, David is in an elevator with his friend. As the doors open, Porsha walks in as David looks at the camera and the doors close.
